Making money for yourself. Here are 2 stories that underline our policy in today's headline and how our headman thinks.
"It was the second time this year that the executives of Exxon Mobil Corp., Chevron Corp., BP America Inc., ConocoPhillips Co. and Shell Oil Co. had been summoned to testify before Congress. When they came in early April oil cost about $98 a barrel. On Wednesday, it bounded past $134 a barrel for a time and gasoline cost a national average of $3.80 a gallon.
The executives, whose companies reported $36 billion in profits during the first three months of the year, wanted to talk about tight supplies and growing global demand. They said that while the companies made billions of dollars, they also spent billions to find and produce more oil." http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24757944
You won't find the oval office in on this, or many politicans at all.
But you can find what Bush thinks about helping American farmers in a heartbeat-
" The House quickly rejected President Bush's veto Wednesday of a $290 billion farm bill and the Senate was poised to follow suit, a stark rebuke of a president overridden only once in his two terms.
Only hours before the House's 316-108 vote, Bush had vetoed the five-year measure, saying it was too expensive and gave too much money to wealthy farmers when farm incomes are high.
The legislation includes election-year subsidies for farmers and food stamps for the poor "? spending that lawmakers could promote when they are back in their districts over the Memorial Day weekend. "

If we had taken care to keep the playing field level and not given money to everybody in the world, the country would be in much better condition. The oil is here, the companies are dragging their feet. More oil in the lower 48 than Alaska, some just buy into the "Save the whale, kill the whale" fight and that suits the folks that are busting our chops fine.
